Thank you for your interest in SAS2SPSS. SAS2SPSS is a file conversion syntax generator for converting large collections of SAS datasets into SPSS datasets. It requires Python 2.7 and SPSS to run, however SAS is not required. SAS2SPSS is safe, free, and easy to use.

User Guide

Software Prerequisites:
-Python 2.7
-IBM SPSS Statistics

Step 1. Click Locate SAS Files and select the folder on your computer which contains the SAS files (.xpt) that you would like to convert to SPSS files (.sav).

NOTICE: it has come to our attention that if the name of the selected folder has any spaces in it, this will cause an error. Please rename folder to remove any spaces. This will be corrected in future releases.

Step 2. Ensure that the folder location is correct and then click Convert SAS to SPSS.

Step 3. Wait patiently as your file conversion syntax is generated. During this process, the SAS2SPSS window may be unresponsive and black command line windows will appear and disappear. This is normal.

Step 4. When the process is complete and your syntax has been generated successfully, your syntax file will open in SPSS. From SPSS Syntax Editor Menu, select RUN -> ALL to complete file conversion. A copy of the SPSS syntax file has been saved in the source folder.

Step 5. Now you should have all of your SAS files accompanied by an SPSS file in the source folder you selected.
